Bookies have reacted to the shock news that Ross would rather attend a Caroline Corr tribute act than complete all the events, by easing his odds to the longest they've been since, well, last year. The trophy suppliers have stopped short of engraving his name on the wooden spoon in advance, but it would be the longest of long shots if The Boy can overturn the form book, his own lack of talent and shocking diary planning to finish above eighth. He can always ask Caroline to sign his spoon.
